A Profile in Courage: Stranded on the High Seas

Remember that video from the early 90's where Biggie Smalls and Puff Daddy rode around on a boat wearing all white and rapping about how much money they have? Well, this was the opposite of that.

This past weekend the Fatherfolk crew took a vacation with the families out to Smith Mountain Lake. If you've never been to Smith Mountain Lake, picture Miami Beach, now picture the opposite of that. It's a beautiful lake in central Virginia that is a vacation home spot for folks from Roanoke, Lynchburg, and points south. It is also where the film, What About Bob was filmed.

This is Todd. He is awesome. Todd drove us around in the boat, which was totally fatherfolk of him. Todd is a member of the band The Village People. He is the computer software one, who made the "M" during the YMCA song by getting into a very undignified position with the construction worker.

This is Blakefatherfolk and Big C, future fatherfolk. This may be the moment that the boat hit a shoal and the engine died, or it's the moment Big C dropped a deuce. Maybe both, it's hard to say. This is also when Aaronfatherfolk stopped making jokes about Piranhas in 3D.

Part 2: Todd Guill, A profile in Courage or, This is Fatherfolk.

At this point, Todd stops quoting What About Bob, and leaps into the water to fix the boat. With less at his disposal than Macguyver would need to fix a squeeky hinge he fixes it. It later stalls at least a mile out from the relative safety of the dock he built with his knuckles and some nails and rope in one hand, water in the other he drags it in!

These paddles wielded by yours truly? Superfluous at best.

After a long day of heroing, dude's still got enough energy to pop a brew and grill some meat. Live Slow Todd, Live Slow. Todd is fatherfolk at it's best, a hearty thanks for having (and putting up with) the crew.
