Good music at a better price
Illinoise - $5 - In the years after (and maybe before, I don't know) Sufjan Stevens released his two albums that were supposed to kick off a 50 album tour of the US he has become some kind of Indie Pop phenomenon / darling. And while his latest seems to have derailed from the state tour (maybe he got stuck in Indiana?) it continues the multi layered instrumentation and laid back vocals that make Illinoise a great album. The album is worth it alone for the finest song on the album, that also just happens to be about John Wayne Gacy, Jr.
Blood Bank - $4 - Another laid back selection is Bon Iver's Blood Bank EP. You'll wish this one was a full length after half a listen, guess you're just going to have to settle for the equally sublime 2008 release For Emma, Forever Ago.
Sun Giant EP - $5 - What's this, another EP? Think of it more like a gateway drug. Sun Giant was released just before the self title debut Fleet Foxes dropped. My understanding is that the EP was actually created after Fleet Foxes, and if that is indicative of the direction the band is headed I'll be along for the ride. These guys are in many ways a throw back, echoing '70s artists like Crosby, Stills, and Nash with some awesome harmonies, while somehow never feeling at all tired or dated.
