well, quickly on in Beijing I got to complete another bucket list check box, eating scorpions. I was told there would be two kinds and one was good, the other not so much but i forgot which was which. So, naturally, i went for both types. The big black ones are really not that tasty. more of a crunch but not much flavoring. The little ones (which move very fast before being flash fried) are actually tasty, though it may just be the added salt. Where as the big ones were a crunch exoskeleton and not much meat, the little ones seemed to have more meat in them at least in a ratio per size. I know other people have eaten this item and lived, but there is something a bit scary about biting into an animal known for killing humans with one touch.
little scorpions, big ones too. starfish and sea horses. I think there were millipedes too, but i can't seem them here.
alright you big sucker, lets do this. also notice in the background the bigger larvae and millipedes.
scared... and.. not so tasty
I have to ask two questions:
ReplyDelete-- If eating scorpions is on your bucket list, what else is on there?
-- How did you get over the instinct to absolutely not put that thing in your mouth? (That's what she said.)
since andy is behind the great firewall of china, i will answer for him.
ReplyDeleteAlso on Andy's bucket list:
1.have sex with a mermaid
2.make an escape through one of those ventilation shafts that you could totally crawl through if your wife wasn't always all like "DO NOT try to climb through the ventilation shaft AGAIN. You remember what happened at your grandmother's funeral RIGHT?"
Andy does not have that same instinct as most people to not put stuff in his mouth. As a child this made his life difficult, with frequent visits to the emergency room. As an adult, trying to make it in the high pressure business world of 'frisco, it served him well. Enough said.
First off, Aaron, you're hysterical. Why weren't you funny in college?
ReplyDeleteBucket list has so much... We have one life to live so let's do as much as possible, normal or odd. I'd possibly like to try dog, though have mixed sentiments on that. would love to try camel. plan to eat tarantula in thailand. want to see as much of the world and explore and experience as many cultures as I can. Antartica would be fun to visit. and believe it or not, I haven't skydived yet. Hopefully in the next year, when i get home from travels, I can do this. and the list goes on... and on... and on...
another thing for the bucket list. jumping off a bridge to land on a boat roof underneath it. doing this while running away from bad guy would make it a bonus but not needed.
